Tom Allen, President and Principal of Compass Property Inspections, began his career as a builder and licensed electrician in the State of Connecticut. While working on residential commercial and industrial properties, he attended college at the University of New Haven and Waterbury State Technical College focusing on advanced studies in building design and electrical engineering.

Following success in 15 years of working in a highly technical field, Tom accepted a leadership position in buildings and grounds facility and construction services as the Executive Director with a local prestigious Liberal Arts College. Tom was responsible for the planning and implementation of nearly $500M in new construction and renovated facilities, transforming the campus while working with premier architectural and engineering firms through the process. In managing day-to-day facility operations he was responsible for a $20M annual budget, energy conservation initiatives and oversight of more and 140 employees, a team comprised of carpenters, HVAC technicians, electricians, plumbers, painters, grounds and custodial staff.

After developing 32 years of experience in the technical field and Higher Education facilities management, Tom branched out to establish Compass Property Inspections, a family-run venture in inspection/consultation services to home owners, commercial properties and educational facilities.

Tom holds a property inspection certification and license from the State of Connecticut and New York as well as multiple industry designations in advanced professional inspection courses.

In addition to his love for building design, Tom enjoys spending time with his family, boating and alpine skiing where he has been a volunteer for the National Ski Patrol at Mohawk Mountain for 30+ years. Tom along with family members have also built and renovated multiple homes within the family from the ground up.

Patty Allen

Patty Allen

Director of Operations

As the Director of Operations for Compass Property Inspections, Patty is responsible for the organization of the business functions including reporting, office management, finances, and client relations. She regularly utilizes her problem-solving ideology to resolve any obstacles that arise. Her organizational management skills are imperative to the team regarding equipment and functionality of office operations.

She has more than 24 years of experience in business operations including managing her own business. Prior to joining the firm she worked for two decades in a medical office, operated her own business, and instructed within the Connecticut Educational System.

Patty’s leadership and ability to bring innovative ideas and support to a team has shown a greater level of compassion and dedication across the board which has proven the importance of treating clients and colleagues fairly.

She attended Western Connecticut State University where she graduated with a B.S. in Education with a Minor in Early Childhood Development.

Patty is always a resource to help in any way possible including mixing, pouring and laying concrete at a professional level. As Compass Property Inspections continued to grow it was apparent that Patty’s experience, commitment, and dedication were a must for the team; providing her the opportunity to work along-side her husband and their daughter.

In her free time, Patty enjoys laughing and playing with her four grandchildren as well as interior design, multiple facets of artisan productions, volunteering in events for non-profit organizations, Event and Interior Décor, renovating construction project labor, and enjoying time with her husband Tom and their dog Maui.

Amanda Myers

Amanda Myers

Director of Business Development

As the Director of Business Development for Compass Property Inspections, Amanda is responsible for the marketing, communication and business development efforts of the firm. In addition to strategic business development efforts, she directs media relations, branding, advertising and website development. She manages and oversees sponsorships, events, charitable contributions, marketing training and more.

She has more than 16 years of experience in the marketing and event industry. Prior to joining the firm she worked with a well-known educational resource for entrepreneurs within the State of Connecticut, a premier event firm in New York raising over $5 million annually for non-profits, and the largest Convention Center in Vermont.

Amanda’s leadership and ability to grow and expand companies through her work history has proven the importance of building and maintaining relationships within the community and clientele.

She attended Champlain College where she graduated with a B.S. in Public Relations and an A.S. in Communications.

As Tom Allen ventured into Entrepreneurship with Compass Property Inspections, Amanda joined the venture providing her the opportunity to work along-side her Dad and Mom.

In her free time, Amanda enjoys laughing and playing with her daughter and husband as well as planning family gatherings, and skiing.
